"Death Claims J. W. Kincaid [Jr.]
John William Kincaid, 66, a long-time employee of the National Zinc company here, died at 8:20 Wednesday night in Memorial hospital following a one-month illness. He was hospitalized nine days ago.
Kincaid was born in [4] April 1880 at Opolis, [Crawford Co.], Kan., and spent his youth on a farm in southeast Kansas. He came to Bartlesville in 1909 from Miami [Ottawa Co, OK], where he had been foreman of a lead mine. For the past 35 years, Kincaid had been employed by the National Zinc company, and was purchasing agent at the time of his death. He was a Mason and engaged in woodwork as a hobby.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Eleanor Kincaid of the home, 1342 Keeler; one son, John William Kincaid, jr. [III], of the United States Military Academy, West Point; one daughter, Mrs. Charles H. Whittington, jr. [Mary Jane Kincaid] of Bartlesville; four sisters, Mrs. Lee Martin [Sarah Elizabeth "Dolly" Withers], Baxter Springs, Kan.; Mrs. Tony Ryder [Lucy Irene Withers], Mulberry, Kans.; Mrs. Edgar Wyant [Mary Olive "Ollie" Withers] , Pleasanton, Kan.; Mrs. Emma Compton [Emma Retta Withers], also of Mulberry; and four grandsons and one granddaughter.
The body was removed to the Moore Funeral home."
