Grandmother was an amazing seamstress. She made clothes for me and sent them as we moved around the country. One Christmas I received twin dolls with bunk beds and she had made wardrobes for them with matching clothes for me, including crocheted hats, sweaters, jackets. So wonderful to have and to play with. She sent me everything a well dressed girl and her dolls could want. On a visit to her in 1970 in San Francisco, she gave me the handmade items she had saved from her trousseau. Grandmother did all kinds of needlework, and she made hooked and braided rugs during the war. I remember them being dyed over a fire in the back yard of their home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was talented, creative and energetic, a great cook and immaculate house keeper. She also collected Victorian era furniture and objects. LJW
