Melvin C. Alexander, 77, of Mendota died on Dec. 29, at Mendota Community Hospital. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday Jan.2, at the Merritt Funeral Home.
He was born on Oct. 19, 1923, in El Paso, III to John and Carrie Alexander. He married Crystal Schultz on Jan. 9, 1954, at the Community United Methodist Church of LaMoille.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mendota. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and he worked for Chrysler Corp. in Belvedere for 17 years and for Illinois Central Railroad for 21 years.
He is survivors include his wife, Crystal of Mendota.
He was prededed in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
