Paul Ray Arms, 81, of 300 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, died Saturday, October 18, 2003, at Lancaster General Hospital.

Mr. Arms was an education missionary with the Methodist church. He taught mathematics and eventually served as principal of Iquique English College, a bilingual primary and secondary school, in Chile. He coached basketball and played baseball.

He returned to the United States in 1960 and taught mathematics at Oceanside High School, Long Island, NY. He was chair of the mathematics department at Oceanside High School. He retired to Wilmington, DE in 1984.

Mr. Arms was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lancaster.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served during WWII and received the Purple Heart for combat wounds he received in Germany.

He earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree from State University of Iowa.

Born in Delta, Iowa, he was the son of the late Russel J. and Ada M. Wallace Arms. He was married 62 years to Helen A. Lacour Arms.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are 2 sons, Ronald P. Arms and his wife, Julie, of Alexandria, VA and Randall R. Arms and his wife, Romy, of Iquique; a daughter, Judy Antoine E. and her husband, Kenel, of Syracuse, NY; 7 grandchildren;a great granddaughter; and a sister, Opal Ettl of Pasadena, CA.

Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE at 1 pm on Friday, October 24. Arrangements by KEARNEY A. SNYDER FUNERAL HOME
