Verling K. Hart was appointed to West Point in 1889 by WY Territorial Governor J. M. Carey. He was the Point's first graduate in 1893 from the state of Wyoming.
He served in both Cuba and the Phillipines.
In 1906, he was transferred to Fort Russell where he also served as WY Adjutant General through his active duty retirement in 1910 until the time of his death.
He was a Brigadier General in the National Guard.
