T. C. Hovis, prominent citizen of Clintonville, died very suddenly Friday morning, April 6. Had hitched up his horse to go over to the Hovis farm and just got in the buggy when he was stricken and died instantly. "Cos," as he was familiarly known, was son of David and Marjorie Hovis. Born February 20, 1855, being past 68 years of age. Owner of David Hovis farm. Had lived all his life on farm except last few years when he had been living in Clintonville. Married Miss Vilena Phipps March 10, 1896. One daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Oakes of Endeavor, Pa. Mr. Hovis and wife had spent winter in Florida and had only been home about ten days before he died. Leaves wife, daughter. Also two brothers, C. W. Hovis, L. A. Hovis, both of Clintonville, two sisters, Mrs. J. M. Baird of Boise, Idaho, and Mrs. Susie Osborne of Clintonville. Services Sunday 2 p.m. by Rev. T. F. Kerr, assisted by Rev. H. L. Hood. Interment in Methodist cemetery.... Good man all his life and good boy when a boy....

Mr. and Mrs. William K. Curtis of Braddock and daughter, Mrs. Frank Mesta, of Pittsburgh; Miss Mabel Phipps of Oil City; Mr. and Mrs. George Phipps and son, Roy Phipps of Franklin; Clifford Phipps of Mamont and Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Patton of Bruin were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Phipps to attend the funeral of T. C. Hovis Sunday.

Resolutions of Respect: From Tourist Club of St. Augustine, Florida, have been received by family of late T. C. Hovis.... was member of this club the past four seasons.... Signed L. Simpson, Secretary, W. S. Towne, President.
