J.C. "Choc" Murray was called from this life on Saturday, July 19 2008, at the age of 95. He was born in Wanette, Oklahoma to Louis A. Murray and Willie Mae (Conner) Murray on December 18, 1912.

He was a faithful member of the Paul and Pine Church of Christ, baptized at a very young age.

He graduated from Whitebead School and met Anna Belle Hall. They were married in Gainsville, Texas on October 11, 1941. They were married for 63 years and made their home west of Pauls Valley near Antioch.

As a child, his family moved many times, but he had lived in the same location for over 65 years.

He was a veteran of World War II. Throughout his life he was a farmer/rancher and served on various organizations and boards, which included the ASCS, Garvin County Election Board, Garvin County Farm Bureau, Garvin County Fair Board, Round-Up Club, Whitebead Alumni Committee, Western Farmers Board of Directors and the Rural Electric Board of Directors.

Choc was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Willie Murray; his wife, Anna Belle; two sisters, Effie Windle and Towana Rushing: two brothers, Hardee Murray and G.A. Murray; and one daughter-in-law, Sheila Murray.

Choc is survived by one son, Joe Murray; one daughter and her spouse, Lou and Vernon Jones; four grandchildren: Hillary Gustin and her fiancée Peter Farrell, Mariah Murray and Perry Alfred, all of Oklahoma City, Shane and Theresa Cosner of Roland, Oklahoma, Cody and Jenna Cosner of Muldrow, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren: Payton, Gracie and Zack; one sister and brother-in-law, Lou and Danny Shebester; brother-in-law, Clyde Rushing of Birmingham, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Murray will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Wooster Funeral home Chapel with Roy Shave officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to his numerous caregivers at The Willows, Pauls Valley Health Care and Valley Hospice.
