Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ada L. Bates of Leesburg; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence Walton of Morton; two sons, Bill Bates of Pelahatchie, and Paul Bates of Morton; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ras Gibbons of Morton and one brother, Jack Bates of Morton.
