Soldotna resident Patrick Edward Reilly, 35, died March 11, 2006, in Anchorage. A funeral was April 20 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. No reception followed.

Mr. Reilly was born Sept. 17, 1970, in Santa Clara, Calif., and lived there until he moved with his family to Anchorage in 1978. As a child, he had also lived in Soldotna. Mr. Reilly was an excellent hockey player in the Kenai Peninsula Hockey League from 1979 to 1984, his family said, as well as the Soldotna High School team. He lived in Oregon, Iowa and Washington state from 1986 until 2003, during which time he became the father of two boys. Mr. Reilly worked in retail management in Washington state and Alaska, returning in 2003. He prepared to start a fishing guide service on the Nushagak and Wood rivers near Dillingham. His family wrote: "Patrick had two passions in life: his family and fishing. Everyone will always remember his positive demeanor about life. He faced obstacles in the same positive way and would lend others a helping hand even if he himself was down. Because of this, people gravitated to him in the same manner. "He spent close time with all family members and cherished his sons. When not spending time with family, he fished as much as possible. His natural talent to pull fish from the water where others couldn't get a bite was amazing. In the lakes, rivers and ocean waters, whether there alone or with others, he was at home."

Mr. Reilly is survived by his sons, Brendan and Conner Reilly; mother and stepfather, Patricia and George Ash of Anchorage; father, George Reilly of Oregon; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Caroline Reilly of Washington state; sisters and brother-in-law, Michelle Reilly of Iowa, and Sheridan Leigh and Bob Rehbock of Anchorage; nephews, David Bennett, Daniel and Nathaniel Reilly, Dean Severance and Alex Hunt; and niece, Leah Hunt
