He was the son of John Joseph(?) (1852-1923) and Sarah Ann McGinnis (1855-1902) Maloney.

At his baptism he was named: Daniel Christopher after his maternal uncle who died in 1874. His middle name was changed to Joseph - apparently named after his father (his father's middle name was never confirmed but Dan and his siblings' naming pattern indicate that Joseph might be correct.)

His mother died in 1902 and his Aunt 'Bid' Bridget Bowers (his mother's sister) raised him and his nine brothers and sisters.

Dan's siblings (9):
1. George Francis Maloney (1883-1960)
2. Alice Margaret 'Maggie' Maloney (1885-1888)
3. James William Maloney (1887-1977)
4. Anna Josephine Maloney - never married (1889-1910)
5. Helen Marie 'Nellie' Maloney Foose (1891-1967)
6. Sarah Veronica 'Sadie' Maloney McHaines (div) Maloney (1894-1979)
7. John Francis Maloney - never married (1894-1960)
8. Mary Josephine Maloney Costello (1896-1980)
9. William Anthony 'Mickey' Maloney (1899-1965)

Dan married May 29, 1909; his wife: Florence Magdeline 'Maggie' Young Maloney (1885-1964). (Maggie's father died May 18, 1909.) Dan and Maggie met at Kahn's Tailoring where they both worked.

They had seven children:
1. Margaret Elizabeth Maloney - never married (1910-1998)
2. John Daniel Maloney (1912-1912)
3. Anna Josephine Maloney Radican (1913-1980)
4. Robert William Maloney (1915-1915)
5. Florence 'Kathleen' Maloney Clark (1916-1984)
6. James Daniel Maloney (1919-1998)
7. William John Maloney (1921-2014)

Dan's father died in 1923.

Dan's occupation: cutter at Kahn's Tailoring Company. In the 1900 census he is listed as a cutter (unknown which tailoring shop - probably Kahn's). He 'retired' December 3, 1943 from Kahn's Tailoring Company - with a letter of 'recommendation' - age 62y 9m 17d.

The letter stated: "This will introduce you to Mr Dan Maloney, who has worked for us a great many years. His work has been entirely satisfactory, but he feels at this time that he could be better employed in some other industry, therefore, we are willing to release him for employment elsewhere. We can recomment him very highly to anyone desiring his services."

Dan died at age 65 years 2 months 15 days.
