Gary Dean Piland 1948-2000

Gary Dean Piland, 52 died March 4th at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born Jan. 17 1948, at Great Bend, the son of Albert and Margie L Harley Piland. A lifelong resident of Great Bend, Kansas, he had worked for Kansas Department of Transportation. Piland was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111 and Elks Lodge 1127. He was a Vietnam Veteran. Survivors include three brothers, Basil Piland of Great Bend, Kenneth Piland of Las Vegas, Nev, and Troy Piland of Garden City, and one sister Claudia Biles of Heizer. He was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Conaway. Funeral will be at 11am Tuesday at the church with the Revs. Gary W Teske and Arlo Lehmann officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery in Great Bend. Friends may call until 9 tonight at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend and from 10 am to service time Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church or Leukemia Foundation, both in care of the funeral home.

Correction:Son of Margorie Lorraine (Piland) Davis and William Arthur Tonkin. Albert Piland was his grandfather and Margie was never a Harley this was her mothers maiden name.
