Marguerite A. Hund, 94, of Paxico, Kansas, died Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center in Wamego. She was a life-long resident of the area.
Marguerite was born October 5, 1913, west of Alma, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Lena Steimel Richmond.
She attended Rural Dist #9 Sunny Slope School west of Alma. She then attended Mount Saint Scholastica Academy in Atchison, Kansas and graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy of Saint Mary. Marguerite was a homemaker. She also was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, north of Paxico, and the church’s Altar Sodality.
She married Walter M. Hund on November 27, 1937 in Alma, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1987.
Marguerite is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Poovey and her husband, Dick, Paxico, Roxie Hund, Lakeland, Florida; four grandchildren, Shelley Miles, Fennimore, Wisconsin, Emily Shoup and her husband, Mark, Roundup, Montana, Delane Janssen and her husband, Travis, Geneseo, Travis Proovey and his wife, Tammy, Paxico; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Hund on June 20, 2006 and her brother, Lawrence Richmond.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Paxico, Kansas. Father John Pilcher will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Hund will lie-in-state at the church on Friday, starting at 5:00 p.m. A rosary prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. and the family will greet friends following the rosary.
They suggest memorial contributions to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Gentry Funeral Home in Alma.
