Mrs. Thomas M. Ball of 721 West Second street, received word of the death of her father, J. W. Eby, at Portland, Ore., Thursday following a few hours illness. Previous to his 17 years' residence there, Mr. Eby resided north of this city (Grand Island, Neb.) about ten years, having at one time been a candidate for sheriff of Hall county. Together, with his wife, he spent the past winter in this city. Four sons and a daughter, besides his wife, survive him, three children having preceded him in death.
