Ruth was a very religious Christian. She graduated from Biola College in the 1950's and stayed to minister in the Watts area of Los Angeles living through the riots of the 1960's. Ruth spoke Spanish and preached to the emerging immigrant population from Mexico during her missionary work in Los Angeles. It is here where she met and married her husband Lyle Hagerman, they moved to their home in Santa Rosa where she lived until her death at 83 years of age. Lyle and Ruth traveled around the country in a streamlined silver trailer. She documented graves of the relatives on her travels into Texas where she was born. She never forgot her relatives until she suffered a brain injury due to illness and lost sight of who she was with dementia. She suffered tremendously throughout her years from myasthenia gravis and then dementia. Her sister Dorothy Carlton died only two months before her. It was as though they went to heaven as sisters. Her beloved husband died shortly after Ruth on March 14th, 2009. He remained in love with his dear Ruth until his death and wanted to "GO HOME" to live in eternity with her.
