He was born in Mercer, Pa on March 10, 1940, a son of Wilfred L. and Mary I (Perry) Wood. His first wife, Ethel Godsave, preceded him in death. He married Pearl Wimer Mook on March 19, 1994. She survives.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, country music and dancing. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving in the US Army. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 429.
He worked at Advanced Cast Products, Inc for 3 years as an iron pourer and also for the City of Meadville.
Survivors in addition to his wife, include a daughter Carrie Wood of Meadville; a step daughter, Sandra (John) Tracy of Meadville; four step sons, Eugene (Tamara) Mook of Edinboro, William (Tammy) Mook of Meadville, James Mook of Linesville and Robert (Lisa) Mook of Albion; a grandson, Benjamin Russell Goodemote; several step grand children; five sisters, Florence (Richard) Manross of Saegertown, Frances (Junior) Shorts of Meadville, Patricia (Benny) Barretta of Meadville, Shirley (Albert) O'Neil of Cochranton, Joanne (Barry) Rice of Meadville; a brother William (Betty) Wood of Saegertown. He was preceded in death by an infant sister and infant brother and a sister Beverly (Frank) Leonhart of Townville.
Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home is in charge of services with Rev. Emory Ringer, miniser of visitation and outreach at Saegertown Community Church, officiating.
