Andrew Scott "Drew" Ace, 28, died June 27, 2008, as the result of an accident at his Big Lake home. A service was held at the Church of the Nazarene on Hemmer Road in Palmer with the Rev. Micky Boyer officiating. A private interment of ashes wa afterward at the Pioneer Cemetery on the Old Glenn Highway in Palmer.

Drew was born Dec. 16, 1979, in Harrisburg, Pa., to Kathleen McKelvey and John Ace. He was less than 1 year old when his family returned to Alaska and Drew made the Valley his home for the rest of his life. Drew attended school in Sutton and Palmer and worked most of his life in the construction trades, most recently for Westgro Drywall in Wasilla. Drew and Susan Norberg began their relationship in October 1999 and were inseparable from that point on. Drew and Susan married Jan. 1, 2003. Drew's greatest passion was fishing. Even as a child, if Drew could not be found, he would be down at the river fishing all by himself. He also enjoyed carving ivory and creating unique wooden furniture from the remnants of the Miller's Reach fire. Drew had many struggles and challenges in his short life. He met every one head on with such strength and determination that those who knew him respected him even more. The family agrees there will be a huge void in their lives without Drew's smile, his unique sense of humor and his tough-mindedness.

Drew is survived by his loving wife, Susan of Big Lake; son, Brandon of Soldotna; stepchildren, Thomas, Jeremy, Shannon, Amanda and Sierra of Big Lake; parents, Kathleen McKelvey and John Ace of Palmer; siblings, Jene' (David) Hodges of Palmer, Matthew (Joe Dea) Ace of Valdez, Angela (John) Marden, and Troy (Isis) Ace all of Palmer, and Robin Ace of Wasilla; grandson, Bryson, also known as Pumpkin Head Jr.; and 18 nephews and nieces, all of Alaska. Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory was in charge of arrangements. Visit the online memorial at legacy.com
