David Hollan Hill, 83, passed away Aug. 23, 2008, after a lengthy illness.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today, Aug. 26, at Greenview Funeral Home in Florence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, in Greenview Memorial Chapel, with Jerry Reed Clemmons and H.T. Wilson officiating.

He is survived by his children, Sheila Colston (Tony), Beth Faulkner (Mike) and Bart Hill (Jennifer); sisters, Birdie Clanton, Lola Richardson; and brother, Douglas Hill.

He will be missed by his grandchildren, Bradley Hill, Shannon Fountain, Nena Dial, Stephanie Hill, Sherah Faulkner, Anna Faulkner, Cory Faulkner, Robert Hill and Audrey Hill; and great-grandchildren, Kaley Tankersley, Jett Kennamore, Piper Kennamore, Savannah Hill, Joseph Hill, Brooklyn Dial, Albany Dial and newborn, Charlee Elizabeth Quimby; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Hill, Madgie Bradley Hill; his brother, Quincy Hill; sister, Shelby Blackburn; and his sons, David Ray Hill and Dennis Hollan Hill.

Hollan loved the outdoors and his hunting dogs. Bluegrass music was his passion. He taught himself to play fiddle at age nine and became a great talent. He played with many local musicians and was a member of the Crickett Hollow Boys and the Bama Jubilee Band. He won many awards for his bluegrass fiddling. Hollan loved to laugh and will be remembered for his big smile and outgoing personality.

Pallbearers will be Robert Hill, Cory Faulkner, Bradley Hill, John Hill, Jeff Hill and H.T. Wilson.
