Ruth Ann Jordan, 60, of Baxter and formerly of Barrackville, died Friday (Aug. 8, 2008) at Fairmont General Hospital. She was born Nov. 6, 1947, in Fairmont, the daughter of Genevieve McCoy Snoderly of Baxter and the late James Lawrence Snoderly Sr.She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Jordan of Fairmont; three sons, Michael T. Jordan III of Bremerton, Wash., Matthew R. Jordan of Grant Town and Marcus A. Jordan and his wife, Lisa, of Hagerstown, Md.; two grandchildren, Danillya Wilson of Morgantown and Leigha Jordan-Smith of Fairmont; three brothers, including: Glenn Snoderly and his wife, Virginia of Baxter; Lynn Snoderly and his wife, Carol of Kingwood and James Snoderly Jr. of Berkeley Springs; and a sister-in-law, Debra Snoderly of Rivesville.She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Snoderly; and an infant sister, Bonnie Lou Snoderly.Ruth Ann's calling in life was to be a teacher to children. She retired in October 2007 as a teacher from the Marion County Board of Education with over 30 years of service. Ruth Ann taught at Baxter, Downs, Watson, Barrackville and Barnes Elementary. She worked her last five years in the Title I office for the school board.She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church of Fairmont.She graduated from Rivesville High School in 1965, Fairmont State College in 1971 and received her masters degree from West Virginia University in 1997.She enjoyed traveling with work and friends and being with her grandchildren and family.The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Second Street, Rivesville from 6-9 p.m. today and from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Monday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Stanley Merrifield officiating. The committal service will follow in the Brummage Cemetery.
