Diary of Rev. James T. Ward (1821-1897) (son of Rev. Ulysses Ward), Westminster, MD, 22 March 1859 in Washington, DC:
As many of the family circle as could conveniently meet were together in the evening at Br. R. B. Norment's, a little distance in the country. Very pleasant time yet not so entirely pleasant as our meetings used to be in the old homestead when our dear parents still kept it. Father baptized two of his grand-children, Richard B.* Norment and Edith Ward. *He was baptized Richard Cookman Norment, but subsequently by consent of his parents, took his father's name Richard Baxter Norment. J.T.W.
