Dudley N. Bateman was the 5th born child to Erastus and Louisa Bateman. He married Elizabeth C. Parish on November 29, 1865 in Ingham County, Michgan. Sources show four children born to them. They are as follows:

Milton R. b: 1869 in Ingham County, Michigan
Guy C. b: 1870 in Ingham County, Michigan

passed away Feb 3 (?), 1926 at the age of 88 yrs. 8 ms. 33 dys. Enlisted Mar 22, 1865 and Discharged Sept. 22, 1865

Through the Pioneer History of Ingham County-Aurelius Township and It's History, it tells that Dudely N. Bateman was the first school teacher to teach in a brick structure school in 1865.
