Born July 17, 1941, in York County, he was the son of the late Ethel (Beck) and Jonas Anderson.
Mr. Anderson retired from Operating Engineers after 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. In later years, he was a lawn maintenance operator at Hawk Lake and Honey Run Golf Courses. He enjoyed tinkering with and fixing lawn mowers.
Mr. Anderson was a member of Local Union 542, the Fireman's Club of Goldsboro, and the American Legion Pleasureville Post. He was a long time fan of NASCAR and an avid fan of Jeff Gordon.
Gene leaves to cherish his memory one son, Gene Michael ''Mick'' Anderson and companion, Mindy Slaseman of Dover; one daughter, Sandy Marie Greer and husband, Brian of Dover; his former wife, Connie R. Anderson of Dover; four grandchildren, Logan Greer, Rachel Sarver, Matthew and Ina Grant; two brothers, Dale Anderson and wife, Betty of Pleasant Grove, and Glenn Anderson and wife, Joyce of Dover; four sisters, Peg Hake of Weiglestown, Nancy Hughes of York, Patty Stoner of Dover, and Linda Bixler of Dover; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin Noah Manhart Anderson; and two brothers, Donald Anderson and Larry Anderson.
Burial will immediately follow in Parkville Cemetery.
