ALFRED JOHNSON. brother of Isaac, born in McLean County, Illinois, in 1845. During the war when a youth of eighteen years he enlisted in Company B, 39th Illinois Infantry, serving two years and participating in fourteen battles. After the war he returned to Illinois and engaged in farming until 1869. That year he came to Kansas, of which he has since been a resident. He was first married in 1871, to Miss Isabelle Anderson, a native of Canada, who died in 1880, at the age of twenty-six years. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and the mother of six children, all dead except Mary J., who is living with her father. In August 1881 Mr Johnson contracted a second marriage with Miss Julia Reed, a native of Illinois. There was born from this marriage four children,
Alta; Ira; Silas; and Wade. The later is deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church and Mr Johnson belongs to the
G.A.R.
At the outbreak of the civil war Mr . Johnson enlisted in Co B 39th Reg. Il. volunteers serving 2 years and 5 months, receiving an honorable discharge.
He was united in Marriage April 1871 to Miss Isabelle Anderson to this union 5 children were born, who preceded him in death.

April 11 1881 he was united in Marriage with Julia A Reed to this union were born 4 children, Mrs. R. J. Shove of Havensville. Ira M Johnson of Topeka, Silas H Johnson of Corn, Iowa, and Wade who died in inFancy.

He was a Member of M.E. Church,, Masonic Lodge and G.A.R.
