Son of Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Williams (Robert L. and Ann Myrtle Atkins Williams) who drown in the Nolichucky River at the Devil's Looking Glass. He was in a group of five young boys who were playing in a boat on the river. The other members of the outing were Ivery Theodore C. "Ted" Johnson Jr. and Robert C Johnson, ages 12 and 9, sons of Mrs. Ivy Johnson; George P. Doyle, age 12, son of Mrs. H.M. Williams and J.E. Goforth who was rescued by Gillian Coffee, a farmer residing nearby.
