Robert Kent Taylor entered the US Army from Alabama and was assigned to the 180th Infantry. 45th Infantry Division. He was killed in the Sicily Campaign of 9 Jul - 17 Aug, 1943 during WWII. The amphibious assault on Sicily occurred July 10th.

From Fold3: "Private Taylor served in Sicily with the 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, where he was killed in action on July 12, 1943, two days after the division began its amphibious assault on the island. With him in the battle was Private John L. Chesser, his cousin from Montgomery, who lived to tell his family of his bravery.

After the war, Private Robert K. Taylor's remains were returned home from their temporary burial place at Peastum-Mt. Soprano, Italy and reinterred in the Mobile National Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama on September 10, 1948."
