3 SERVICEMEN FROM DISTRICT DIE IN ACTION: TWO OTHER SOLDIERS, TWO FLIERS MISSING
Three district servicemen have been killed and four others are missing in action, their families have been notified.
LT. CARL W. AUTH
Lt. Carl W. Auth was killed in action in Germany on Dec. 10, as he attempted to extricate the men and equipment of one of his gun sections being shelled by the enemy, his commanding officer informed his widow, Jean Boyer Auth of 901 Glenover Place, Aspinwall.
Lt. Auth, 30, was graduated from the Aspinwall High School and at the time he entered service Aug. 11, 1941, was employed at the H.J. Heinz Co. He received his commission April 1, 1943, after graduating from Officers' Candidate School at Camp Davis, N.C. He had been overseas since last February.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Grim and two sisters. (article amended to include mention of this soldier only)
