Our dear mother, Emily Fox Clawson Wright, died on August 31, 2008 at the age of 97 in Woodinville, Washington of Congestive Heart Failure.


Emily was born March 25, 1911 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Chester Young Clawson and Ester Vida Fox Clawson. She married Jay William Wright on August 8, 1932 in the Salt Lake City Mormon Temple. Jay "Bill" passed away on May 11, 2001 at the age of 91 in Woodinville, Washington after 69 years of marriage to Emily. Emily attended the LDS High School and the University of Utah; served as a ward Relief Society President for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while living in Queens, New York, Salt Lake City, Utah and Seattle, Washington; and she became a docent (teacher and trainer) at the Seattle Art Museum. She was beloved by those she served and associated with. Emily will be greatly missed by her loving family and all those whose lives she touched.


Emily is survived by her six children, David William Wright of Holladay, Utah and wife Jeanne Amott and their four children and 13 grandchildren; Jay Bradley Wright of San Anselmo, California and wife Penny Allred and their two children; James Stephen Wright of Seattle, Washington and wife Catherine Zmitrovich and their five children and 12 grandchildren; Lucy Charlotte Wright Openshaw of Henderson, Nevada and husband Kenneth Lynn Openshaw and their five children and six grandchildren; Christopher Wardrop Wright of Woodinville, Washington and wife Karen Dennett and their four children and three grandchildren; and Timothy Clawson Wright of Santa Barbara, California and wife Anne Kaivo and their three children. And she is survived by her brother Truman Fox Clawson of Salt Lake City, Utah.


A viewing for Family and Friends will be held at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 1-2 p.m. in the afternoon.
A Graveside Service will be held immediately afterward in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
