Robert E. Cook, Sr., 78, of Parks Township, died Monday, April 7, 2008, in his residence. Born Sept. 24, 1929, he was a son of the late William Raymond and Margaret Emahizer Cook. Mr. Cook was the former owner of Cook Transfer. He was married to Anna Jean McCutcheon on April 11, 1950. The Cooks' 58th wedding anniversary would have been this Friday. After his retirement, Mr. Cook was a wheelchair van driver for C&S Ambulance Service in Vandergrift and had befriended residents at area nursing homes. He was loved and known to many as "Pap." He had owned and operated Lee's Fishing Lake and was a member of Parks Township Sportsman's Club, both in Parks Township. He was a member of Armstrong County Conservation league, life member of Parks Township Fire Department, life member of the Pennsylvania Trappers Association and the National Trappers Association. He enjoyed the outdoors in every aspect, from spending time with his family and friends to building his log home to making maple syrup. Mr. Cook received numerous awards in conservation, including Conservationist of the Year, Armstrong County Conservation League Appreciation Award, Pennsylvania Trappers Long Liner Award and Pennsylvania Game Commission Outstanding Instructor Award. Survivors include a son, Robert (Regina) Cook, Jr. and two daughters, Sandra (Don) Ament and Deborah (George) Belles, all of Parks Township; grandchildren, Amy (Bill) Perroz, D.(Michelle) Ament and Duggie (Stefani) Belles; great grandchildren, Katelyn Perroz, Billy Perroz, Joey Belles and Mia Ament; and brother Kenneth Cook of West Leechburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jean in 2005; and a brother, Alvin Cook. Burial was in Stitts Run Cemetery, Parks Township.
