Emma was the seventh of seven children, and the fourth of four daughters, of Michael Bailey and Ann Pringey. Emma had an unmarried liaison with a Mr. Black, and to that relationship was born Elsie Black Rounds. Emma was married to William Henry Bush on November 14, 1882 in Muscatine Iowa. William and Emma had the following children: Charlotte M. Barnett Manning, and Anna Lafever Wilson. After divorcing William, Emma married James L. Gerden. James and Emma had the following children: Ruth Belle Kohler Clifford, Eva M. Hubbard Lowry, and Evelyn Nora Savona Hatch Weise. Around 1900, Emma was married to William H. Owens. William and Emma had the following children: Morley Frank Owens and William Harrison Owens.
