Shirley L. Acker, 66, Imler, passed away Thursday at Donahoe Manor, Bedford, after an extended battle with breast cancer.

She was born in Johnstown, daughter of William C. Blough and the late Catherine (Young) Blough. She married Eugene C. Acker.

Surviving are her father of Johnstown; her husband of 33 years, Eugene Acker; a daughter, Linda Acker; and a son, Eugene Acker Jr., all of Imler. Also surviving are three aunts: Elizabeth Blough, Marie (Young) Medeiros and Margarette Young, all of Johnstown.

Shirley was of the Lutheran faith and attended Trinity Reformed Church of Osterburg. She was a 1959 graduate of Johnstown High School and graduated from the Cambria Rowe Business School. She was employed as a secretary at Galliker Dairy, Johnstown, for 12 years and enjoyed being a homemaker for the past 33 years.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Aug. 29, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Charles Miller officiating. Interment at Lower Claar Cemetery.
