Walter E. Hupp was born Nov. 6, 1930, to Vivian & Herman Hupp of Watersmeet, Mi. He grew up and attended school in Watersmeet. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was married to Judy Prey, also of Watersmeet and together they had three children. A daughter, Janet, daughter Roxanne, and a son Walter (Wally Jr.) They divorced in latter years and though he never remarried he had a "special friend" Hermini (Minnie) that was an important part of his life for many years until his death. In younger years he worked at Powell's sawmill in Watersmeet and was later employed by Watersmeet Township as part of their maintainence crew. He was so well liked and appreciated in this town that after his death he had a street named after him (W. E. Hupp Ave) which leads into the township pumphouse for our well system. He remained employed by the Township until he retired. His sudden and unexpected death came just a few short weeks after retirement while he was raking his lawn in the spring. His hobby was picking up scrap metal (such as old cars) and selling it for recycling purposes. He always had a love for his cars and whatever vehicle he owned he took meticulous care of it. Thus the reason for the unique tombstone that his family chose for him. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Milton. He was survived by his ex-wife Judy, his three children, 3 grandchildren ( I am not certain if there were more grandchildren but I do know for sure there were three, his special friend Minnie, several sisters, as well as many nieces and nephews. Internment was in the Watersmeet Cemetery.
