Roy L. Davids Waldron

Roy L. Davids, 80, of Waldron died at 11:09 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Greenwood.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home in Shelbyville with the Rev. Love officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Norristown Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Davids; a daughter, Julee (Jim) Dunagan of Waldron and two granddaughters.

Roy L. Davids

Roy L. Davids, 80, of Waldron died Monday Sept. 1, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Greenwood.

Born March 21, 1928, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Clarence S. and Nina (Hendry) Davids. He married Lois Cockerham on Aug. 11, 1950, and she survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Julee (husband, Jim) Dunagan of Waldron; cousins, Billy Kirchhofer of Louisville, Ky., Donnie Kirchhofer of California and Connie Callahan of Ellettsville; aunt, Ruth Hendry of Indianapolis; sisters-in-law, Jean (husband, Earl) LeClerc of Shelbyville and Patti (husband, Bill) Lumb of Florida; and granddaughters, Ashley Dunagan and Abigail Dunagan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Davids had moved to the Waldron area from Chicago 45 years ago. For the past 18 years, he would spend his winters at his home in Fort Myers, Fla.,

He had been employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Shelbyville for 20 years, retiring in 1991. He was a route carrier and window clerk.

Mr. Davids was a U.S. Army veteran, serving for 20 years and retiring as master sergeant E8.

He had attended Columbus High School.

Mr. Davids was a former member of the Shelbyville Elks Lodge and the American Legion.

He loved to fish, golf and work in his yard. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce Banister officiating.

Burial will be in Norristown Cemetery in Norristown, with a military service conducted by local veterans organizations.
