Velma Bailey, 72, of Louisville died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Frank and Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with Dusty Elmore officiating. Burial will be in Red Brush Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Red Brush Christian Church, Louisville, or Clay County Hospice.

Mrs. Bailey was born May 6, 1936, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Clint and Opal (Cobb) Stipp. She married Howard "Bud" Bailey June 23, 1956, in Louisville, and he survives.

She was employed at Flora Mailing Center and was a member of Red Brush Christian Church, Louisville. Velma loved being with her family, was an avid canner and enjoyed hummingbirds.

Survivors include her husband, Bud Bailey; daughters, Kathy Johnson, Connie (husband, Mike) Krutsinger and Barb (husband, Kenny) Hilderbrand; son, Rick (wife, Cathi) Bailey; sisters, Dortha (husband, Dale) Yates, Shirley (husband, Gene) Carpenter and Arlene Hurford; sister-in-law, Wanda Stipp of Kankakee; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dale Stipp; and son-in-law, Greg Johnson.
