MRS. MINES ALLEN ST. CHARLES DIES

Funeral Held April 20 From Methodist Church There

Mrs. Mines E. Allen, long time resident of Madison county, died Thursday, April 17, at her home in St. Charles. She had been confined to her bed 8 months, following a stroke of paralysis. She was 68 years of age.

Mrs. Allen was the former Bertha Alice Smith, a daughter of Ralph E. and Mary E. Smith, born in Clarke county, June 15, 1880. With the exception of six years in Missouri, her life was spent in Iowa.

She was married here June 16, 1898 to Mines E. Allen. They were the parents of two daughters, one dying in infancy. She had been a member of the Methodist church since childhood.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Marie of Lorimor; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Miller of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Daisy Ireland of Arcata, California; and three brothers, Pearl of Holdrege, Nebraska, Ray of Geary, Oklahoma, and Otis of Long Beach, California.

Funeral services were held from the St. Charles Methodist church April 20, in charge of the Reverend A. R. Weed. Burial was made in the Elm Grove cemetery.
