Nathan Thorp, aged 83, vetern of the Civil War, succumbed to senility this morning, at 1:15 o'clock at the residence, 416 Huffman Street. He had been in failing health for the last eight years. Mr. Thorp had lived in Fort Wayne since the Civil War. He enlisted in Company K, first regiment, Indiana heavy artillery at Decatur on September 16, 1864, and was discharged from the Union Army at New Orleans on July 20, 1865. He was a member of Bass-Lawton Post, G. A. R., here. Mr. Thorp was born in Decatur County. Surviving are the wife, Ida C.; three daughters, Mrs. Ann Gebhart, of this city; Mrs. Rachel Petro, of Kansas City, MO., and Mrs. Ida Appleton, of Toledo, OH; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Fling, of Indianapolis, IN; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The body was removed to the Mungovan & Sons' Funeral Parlors, 260 744 2114. or (Tom Mungovan (260) 744-4124) Prairie Grove Cem.
