MAGGIE MAE EVELETH Maggie Mae Puntney, oldest daughter of George and MAry Puntney, was born at Onawa, Iowa on April 15, 1871, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Hight, White River, South Dakota on September 18, 1945, at the age of 74 years, 5 months, and 3 days. In about 1880 she moved with her parents to Marshalltown, Iowa and later to Marietta, Iowa, where she attended school. They later moved to Marcus, Iowa and at the age of 15 Maggie Mae, joined the Christian Church at that place. On May 13, 1888, she was united in marriage to Charles Appleton Eveleth of Salix, Iowa and to this union twelve children were born, all of whom survive her. In 1895 they moved to Windom, Minnesota and five years later to Boyd County, Nebraska. In 1907 they moved to Brown County, Nebraska and thirteen years later to Witten, South Dakota where they where in business. It was there that her husband passed away on March 4, 1926. Mrs. Eveleth moved to Burwell, Nebraska in 1933 and eleven years later returned to South Dakota and remained there until the time of her death, except for five months spent with her children in Washington. She was an active member of the Burwell Christian Church, the Royal Neighbors Lodge, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Left to mourn her passing are her seven daughters, Edith Hight, White River, South Dakota; O'Dessa Johnson, Pasadena, California; Helen Teutsch, Vermillion, South Dakota; Lucille Moriss, Tacoma, Washington; Vera Corliss, Summer, Washington; Laura Wildberger, Sturgis, South Dakota; Wilma Schnell, Seattle, Washington; Five sons: Harlan, Candaiagua, New York; Ray, Murdo, South Dakota; Colburn, Oakland, California; Orville, Graham, Washington; and Marion, Shelton, Washington. 38 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one brother, William Puntney, Hartington, Nebraska; Three sisters, Nellie Riibe, Hartington, Nebraska; Hattie Johnson, Farmville, Virginia; and Pearl Landphear, Onawa, Iowa, besides a host of other relatives and friends
