Son of Nathan and Mary (Whitford) Rathbun. Worked for his uncle's saw mill in Rhode Island, decided to form his own business and contracted with the railroad to provide Chesnut for rail ties. Moved to Connecticut to follow Chesnut tree line. Moved into East Lyme and purchased the Lee House. Retired early and lived in Niantic. Seven children; Henry Albert, Mary Evelyn,Everett Elmer, Susie Estelle, Arthur Earl, Caribell.(Caribell's twin brother died at birth).
