Young George Emory primarily grew-up in Washington, D.C. living with his mother and maternal grandparents; while his father was on military duty and after his death in 1878. George was a graduate of Cornell University, Class of 1890; where he received his Bachelor of Laws degree.
In September 1895, George Emory married Miss Josephine Sloan DeWolfe; with whom he had the following known children:

Campbell Dallas (1899-1977)
Clara (1900-1958)
Thomas DeWolfe (1902-1959)
Nancy DeWolfe (1904-1959)
Laura (1905-1989)
George Emory was a partner with the law firm Bausman, Kellerher & Emory in Seattle. In 1901 he was appointed as a Judge to the Superior Court bench by Gov. John Rogers.
On the evening of July 7th 1906, Judge George Meade Emory was shot at his home by a distraught young man who had been rejected by Judge Emory's niece and died two days later from his wounds. His remains where laid to rest in the DeWolfe family plot at Lake View Cemetery. The young man was later found not guilty due to insanity.

George Meade Emory was a 2nd great-grandson of Benjamin Franklin; through his great-grandmother, Sarah [née Franklin] Bache. Sarah's grandson was George's grandfather, Major General William Hemsley Emory.
