Henry Chalifoux, WWI Army Vet

Henry Chalifoux, 83, of 492 Union Street, North Adams, died this morning at the Adams Nursing Home, Williamstown. Death followed a long illness.

Born in North Adams, Oct. 16, 1896, he was a son of Louis and Cordelia (Coderre) Chalifoux. He attended schools in the city.

Mr. Chalifoux worked for 43 years at the former Windsor Mill in North Adams. Later he worked at Hunter Machine Co., North Adams. He retired in 1968.

He was a World War I Army veteran. He served with the Rainbow Division in England and France.

Mr. Chalifoux was a communicant of Notre Dame Church, North Adams. He was a member of the Western Gateway Athletic Club.

His wife, the former Aurore Saillant, died July 28, 1974.

He leaves two sons, Leonard Chalifoux of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Henry CHalifoux Jr. of Bennington, Vt.; three daughters, Mrs Lawrence (Arlene) Jeffers of Williamstown, Mrs. Raymond (Eleanor) Cutler of North Adams, and Mrs. Raymond (Claire) Rone of South Braintree; a brother Adelord Chalifoux of Taunton; eight grand-childen; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Another daughter, Mrs. Rowell (Dorothy) McHatten, died in 1958.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church, North Adams. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.

There will be no calling hours at the San Soucie Funeral Home, North Adams.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Notre Dame Renovation Fund.
