George was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. George's pension records state that he and Walcott Justin served as privates in Colonel John Durkee's Regiment of Connecticut Militia. The Connecticut Military List of Pensions reports that George served as a private under Captain Robert Warner and Colonel Zebulon Butler, Connecticut Troops from Dec. 6, 1780 until December 6, 1783. He was discharged from the army in NYC after the peace treaty was signed. A Veteran's pension was awarded to George in 1818.
