Former County Commissioner Dies Dec. 12 at Ellensburg, Wash.

William J. Crittenden, who in 1920 was elected to a two-year term as county commissioner for Teton county from the Fairfield district, passed away Dec. 12th at Ellensburg, Wash. He was nearly 74 years of age, and heart trouble and other infirmities brought on his death.

Mr. Crittenden settled on the Fairfield project in 1910, and his place was but a short distance west of the present townsite of Fairfield. He was a native of the state of Michigan and came to Montana in 1891, residing for some time in the vicinity of Bozeman.

The body was shipped here from Ellensburg and funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler Cole, near Fairfield, and interment was made in the cemetery there beside the body of Mrs. Crittenden, who passed away August 11, 1923.

There are three surviving daughters, Mrs. Wheeler Cole, Mrs. Earl Zimmerman, and Helen; and three surviving sons, Albert, Dean and William. A son, Joe, died in 1918.
