JOHN TAYLOR, SR.
GULFPORT - John E. Taylor, Sr., 69, of Gulfport died Thursday, June 11, 1987, in Biloxi
Mr. Taylor had served in the Navy and retired in 1944 and was the owner and operator of several restaurants in Jackson before moving to the Coast. He retired after 16 years with Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula and had also managed investment properties. He was a member of the Magnolia Lodge in Biloxi, 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite Bodies, York Rite Bodies, Joppa Shrine Temple and Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Taylor was a member of First Baptist Church in Biloxi.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ora H. Taylor of Gulfport; three daughters, Mrs. Johnnie F. Bodouin, Mrs. Merry D. Reid of Burlington, N.C., and Mrs. Libby E. Bates of Jackson; three sons, Bobby C. Taylor of Baton Rouge, La., Charles R. Taylor and John E. Taylor, Jr., both of Biloxi; two brothers, William C. Taylor of Grenada and Robert T. Taylor of Fort Worth, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held tonight from 6 until 9 at the Howard Avenue chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, followed by burial in Biloxi National Cemetery.
