On his mother's side, his grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather were involved in various battles in Connecticut and Rhode Island during the American Revolutionary War.

Dr. Newell describes his occupation as physician and surgeon.

He was married twice.
First to Bertha Henrietta Kramer (deceased) and possibly the Bertha H Newell buried in this cemetery (#29634876). She was the mother of his son George Lina Newell.

Second marriage to Margaret Susan Oliver, mother of Olive Martha Newell.

Dr. Newell and his wife Margaret were living in Buena Vista, Colorado July 1924.
