Carrie Hibbard Graham – Obituary
In memory of Mrs. Carrie Graham whose maiden name was Hibbard, was born Jan. 14, 1869, near Colchester, McDonough County, Ill. Her father died Sept. 3rd of the same year.
She, with her mother and three sisters, came to Cass County, Mo., in the fall of 1872, where they spent one year, coming to Henry County near Windsor, in 1873, where she grew into womanhood. She was united in marriage to James D. Graham Dec. 28, 1887, at her home in Windsor. To this union eight children were born, the eldest dying in infancy. She leaves her husband and seven children, three sisters and a large number of relatives and friends to mourn her departure.
The family moved from Windsor to Walnut township, near Hepler, Kansas, about 13 years ago, later locating in Hepler where they have lived the past six years. She professed her faith in Christ when about 15 years of age, uniting with the Baptist church in Windsor. After going to Hepler, she united with the Christian church, where she was faithful in every duty, being loved by all who knew her.
Her health and mind failed her during last summer and fall. She was taken to the State Hospital at Osawatomie, Kansas, the 7th of November, but her condition grew gradually worse until death released her from all pain and suffering Sunday Jan. 30, 1916, being 47 years and 16 days old. The body arrived in Hepler the following Tuesday morning and was taken to the home, where the Royal Neighbors held their services at 2 o'clock p.m. after which she was taken to the church for the funeral services. The pastor, Bro. Wilson, spoke words of comfort to all, reading from John 14 and II Corinthians, 5th chapter, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Hepler cemetery. The members of the order of Royal Neighbors, to which she belonged, marched in a body and concluded the services at the grave.
The family have the sympathy of many friends, both in Windsor, their old home, and Hepler.

Notes:
Her death certificate states she died of Acute parenchymatous nephritis. This was before the use of Antibiotics which could have saved her life.
