Sara S. Hugghins, 86, of Waxahachie, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013, at First Christian Church, 1109 Brown Street, Waxahachie. Interment will be in Waxahachie City Cemetery. Sarah "Sally" Anna was born in Dallas, Texas, to the late Walter Grant and Arta Vivian Sigmon Shadday. She retired as an operator from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Waxahachie, with 32 years of service. Sally was a long-time member of First Christian Church and the Joy Sunday school class. She was a member of the Rebecca Boyce Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; a life member of the Ellis County Genealogy Club; a life member of the Telephone Pioneers; a life member of Good Sam's RV Club; and was the first woman to run for a seat on the Waxahachie City Council. Sally was an avid cat lover, bird watcher, and scrapbook crafter.
Sally was preceded in death by her mother, who died when Sally was 12 years old; first husband, 2nd Lt. CW Acker, who lost his life in World War II; second husband, Orville Aday; third husband, Jessie Hugghins; son, Barry Acker; brother, Albert Shadday; sisters, Jeanette Haas, Dorothy Shinder, and Helen Shadday; four nephews; and two nieces.
Sally is survived by a grandson, Daylon Acker and wife, Laura, of Grand Prairie; granddaughter, Dawn Manginelli and husband, Robert, of Rowlett; great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Manginelli, Alyssa Nichole and Jake Landry Acker; daughter-in-law, Jane Gorman Acker, of Waxahachie; a favorite niece, Vivian O'Daniel Hinesley; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; her long-time friend, Patsy Thompson, of Waxahachie; many church friends; and the friends from Baylor Works who she called her "Baylor Bunch"; and her pets, Herman, Baby Kitty, Honey Bunch, Sam, Squeaky, and Whiskers.
