Mr. William David Granger, 67, passed away Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, in an accident at his residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at First Baptist Church in Teague, with Bro. Darrel Beggs officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the funeral home.

David was born in Waco, Texas, to William R. and Lillian Granger, and raised in Waco. He graduated from University High School in the class of 1960. He was an outstanding athlete in high school and excelled in football and on the diving team. He attended Tarleton State University on a football scholarship and later attended Baylor University. He retired after ten years as Maintenance Supervisor for TDCJ, at the Boyd Unit. David loved to hunt and fish and at one time worked as a fishing guide at Lake Whitney. He also was a race car driver for several years in Waco. Mr. Granger was a true people person and never met a stranger. He loved his family very much. David was a Christian and a member of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, William R. "Dub" Granger.

Survivors include his wife of over 23 years, Kitty Granger, of Teague; son, David Bradley Granger and wife, Angela; daughter, D.D. Granger Rodriguez and husband, James, of Waco; step-son, Justin Bounds and wife, Beth, of Teague; 12 grandchildren; his mother, Lillian Granger, of Waco; sisters, Sharon Nelson, of Chalk Bluff and Dawn Segrest and husband, John, of Lorena; cousin and best friend, Ronald Freeman, of Waco; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
