Anchorage resident Roger Wayne Harvey, 49, died July 16, 2007, at home. Visitation was at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel, with a service. The Rev. Jimmie Woods officiated. Pallbearers included Rodney Harvey, McKinley Harvey, Tyson Thompson, William Tillery, Jeffrey Marx and Matthew Gjertson. Burial was afterward at Angelus Memorial Park. A celebration of life was held later at Platinum Jaxx, 901 W. Sixth Ave.

Roger was born Jan. 17, 1958, in Doniphan, Mo., and moved to Anchorage in 1959. He graduated from Service High School in 1976, then studied culinary arts at the University of Alaska Anchorage. He worked for Platinum Jaxx. Roger was baptized at Northern Lights Baptist Church. He enjoyed cooking, skiing, hiking with his mother, fishing and sports. "Roger loved and lived his life to the fullest," his family wrote. "He was a very caring son, brother, uncle and a friend to all who knew him. Roger loved the holidays, cooking for his family when not being a chef. "He had a passion for sports. His TV was always on one of the sports channels. He touched us all, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him."

Roger is survived by his mother and father, Eva and Wade Harvey of Doniphan; brothers, Rodney Harvey of Anchorage and McKinley Harvey of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Darla and James Waller, and Angela and William Tillery, all of Anchorage; lifelong friend and wife, Matthew and Tina Gjertson of Wasilla; and many nieces and nephews.
