John (Jack) Patrick Shannon, 92, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2008. Born to Mary and Patrick Shannon on July 9, 1916 in San Francisco, CA. Graduated from St. Patrick Seminary, Menlo Park, CA 1939. Major in the Army of the US, European Theatre of Operations 1941 - 1946. Retired from McCoy Church Goods, San Francisco, CA. He married the love of his life, Billie Barger July 7, 1973. They moved to Reno in 1990 where he was a member of the SERRA Club, Reno. Beloved husband of Billie M. Shannon, stepfather of Terry and Dana McAdams of Elk Grove, CA and Sylvia Good of Reno, NV. Loving grandfather to Stephen McAdams, Laurel Tuggey, Nancy Beagle, Robert McAdams, Jennifer McAdams and William McAdams. Great- grandfather of Nicole Shannon, Danielle Dawson, Christina McAdams. Beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. John is survived by his sister, Peggy Kosmerl and was preceded in death by his sister, Veronica Angwin and brothers Joseph and Francis.
Visitation hours are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 from 6 - 7 p.m.at Walton Funeral Home, 875 W. 2nd Street, Reno, followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 15, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Menlo Park, CA. Memorial Donations would be appreciated to Poor Clare Monastary of the Sacred Heart of Mary, 28210 Natoma Road, Los Altos Hills, CA 94022 or St. Patrick's Seminary, 320 Middlefield Road, Menlo Park, CA. 94025.
