Mr. Troxell was a son of George and Eliza Cree Troxell, born at Glasgow, December 24, 1838. He served two enlistments in the Civil War, one in Company A, Eighteenth Regiment, P.G. Clark, captain, and the other in Company A of the 110th Regiment, William H. Stevens, captain, both Pennsylvania Infantry. Surviving are a son and daughter, Harry Troxell, San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Alice McClellan, Glasgow, 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Frye, Coalport. Funeral service will be held in the Glasgow Lutheran church, Tuesday 2 p.m., in charge of the Rev. H. P. Light of the Blandburg United Brethren church and the Rev. P.T. K. John Troxell, the last Civil War veteran residing in Reade township, Cambria county, died at his home in Glasgow Saturday night at 9:50 o'clock, in his 94th year. Death was attributed to pneumonia, following a short illness. Mr. Troxell was born on what is now known as the Lawrence Troxell farm on Dec. 24, 1838. Like most of the poneers of that section, he followed lumbering and logging during his early life and helped float logs down the Susquehanna River before the days of railroads. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he enlisted in company A, 110th Pennsylvania volunteers, and served throughout the war and was honorable discharged on July 26, 1865. He was in many of the important engagements and was severly wounded in the battle of Gettsburg. He was united in marriage with Elizabeth Glasgow, who died a number of years ago; since when the aged veteran lived alone. To this union two children were born, a son Harry Troxell, now a resident of San Francisco, Calif.; and a daughter, Mrs. Alice McClellan of Glasgow. Nineteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one sister: Mrs. Rebecca Frye, of Coalport, also survive. Mr. Troxell was a public-spirited citizen and always took an active part in community affairs. He and his comrade, John Stine, who died recently, were the center of many social events in their honor in Glasgow and vicinity. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Glasgow Lutheran church in charge of Rev. H. P. Light, pastor of the Glasgow United Brethren church, who will be assisted by rev. P. T. E. Stockslager, pastor of the Glasgow Lutheran church.
