By the request of the grandchildren and his neighbor's children, I will write an obituary of my beloved father, James Ellis Hall. He was born November 17, 1891 and departed from this life on January 25, 1964 at 3:30 a.m. at the age of 72. He was the son of the late Willard and Eunice Brown Hall.
On October 10, 1912, he married Juda ( Judy ) Bentley of McDowell, Kentucky. Unto this union were born seven children. His wife and three children preceded him in death. Two of his sons deceased from this life after his death. Earl, deceased August 1, 1979, and Leonard, deceased on August 12, 1984.
Two of his children are still living. They are Milford of Myra, Kentucky, and Draxie Tackett of Thurman, Ohio. He has 26 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren still living.
At his home in the evenings, he would love to sing them old-time songs. His last song on earth was " I Am Going Home To Die No More". A word from his neighbors' children: Many times when their parents were sick. he would come to see them every day. He would sing for them and pray with them. The children loved him. My father has joined that happy Kingdom he preached about many years of his life, In that happy Kingdom that has no end, where no heartaches ever come.
He was the oldest brother of the late Wilburn Hall, deacon, of the Hemphill Church, He also leaves two brothers, Allard Hall and Edgar Hall both of Virgie, Kentucky and two sisters, Belle Tackett of Ashland, Kentucky and Stella Johnson of Indian Creek, Virgie, Kentucky.
Gone from this earth a precious father, his happy smiles and loving voice will never greet us in this world anymore; he has gone home to die no more.
