Lizzie was the daughter of Jacob (1841-1909) and Elizabeth 'Eliza' Geiss (1847-1916) Young.

Lizzie's siblings: (12): William Michael Young (1868-1963); John Frederick Young (1869-1962); Anna Mary Dehne (1872-1939); Bertha Julia 'Bert' Fouts (1974-1956); Christian Francis 'Christy' 'Frank' Young (1876-1945); Catherine Louisa 'Kate' Drinkut (1878-1938); Lolo (nmn) Eckel (1880-1963); Caroline Ida 'Carrie' Meany (1881-1904); Susan Leona 'Leo' Akard (1884-1932); Florence Magdeline 'Maggie' Maloney (1885-1964); Emma Helena Young (1888-1896) and Georgia Henrietta Akard (1890-1974).

The Jacob Young family moved from Lancaster, Ohio to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1893.

Lizzie was raised Lutheran.

Lizzie married John F(Francis?) Michelfelder (1874-1908) on May 27, 1896 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Their children: Francis Frederick 'Frank' Michelfelder (1897-1941); Alfred Henry 'Mick' Michelfelder (1898-1975); Herbert Edward Michelfelder (1901-1973) and John 'Walter' Michelfelder (1903-1948).

Lizzie's husband, John (born 9 Feb 1874 in Indianapolis, Marion Co, Indiana) died 26 Nov 1908 at age 34y 9m 17d of tuberculosis in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery on the Michelfelder plot: Sec 38, Lot 394.

Lizzie did alterations to keep the family going. She worked for Vaughnberg Tailors and did work in her home. She was a beautiful seamstress.

The last son to marry was Herbert in 1925. She visited Herbert and his family often. Each time she visited she would bring personal things. The double was a one bedroom so she slept on the 'in-a-door' bed. When Herbert and family moved to another house he had built at 1743 Parker (behind the double) Lizzie moved in with them in 1939.

Lizzie was referred to as 'Grandma Mickey'. Many time when going to visit relatives on the bus she would get off at the wrong stop and they would have to go after her. By this time she was getting hard of hearing and this was probably part of the cause for getting off at the wrong stop.

She had glaucoma about 1952 and finally had to have one eye removed. About 1954/55 she went into a nursing home. Eventually she got to the point where she didn't know anyone.

Lizzie died at age 92 years 9 months 5 days.
